Could be a bat
Or a rat
Scat!

Hush! This is something scary!
Could be hairy
Or a faery
Mary?

Hush! I'm nervous too!
Could it be you
Or Stu
Boo!

Hush! It's All Hallows Eve
I want to leave
My peeve
Reprieve.

Tis Hallowe'en, or All Hallow's Eve, not just a time of trick or treat.
The druids believed that witches, spirits of the dead and demons
would roam the earth the eve before November 1st.
So the mean tricks of the bad spirits would leave them alone,
bonfires were lit and they were offered good things to eat.
The druids would also put on disguises to confuse the evil spirits.
So from the time of the druids,
is how the tradition of playing trick or treat
and dressing up, and how Hallowe'en was started.
