New Year Cracker Tutorial



New Year Crackers
Open a New Image 500 x 250, transparent 16.7 Million Colors
With the Selection tool, draw out an 180 x 50 retangle,
Flood fill with red, #bb1d03
Add a new Raster Layer
Next with your selections tool, draw a Hexagon 115 x 60,
Flood fill.
De-select.
Taking the Eraser Tool, size 1,
run down the centre of your Hexagon,
top to bottom, unevenly,
using your Magic Wand and click on one half.
Move it to one end of your rectangle,
using your deformation tool, pressing shift key, form the ends.
Your results should look like this.

Layers, Merge, visible
Add Inner Bevel at these settings


***If you want to make more than one Cracker, this is a good time to save your Cracker in png format.***

Using your PSP Holiday Tubes, add a couple of pic's to the small parts of your cracker.
***These tubes are a free download from Jasc.
I used the Holly and Pointsetta, setting the scale at 25.

Copy, Paste as a new image, Save as..... Image 1.

Need a Break? If not continue on.

Taking the Selection Tool, Rectangle, form a retangle along your cracker half way and using the Deformation Tool, shape it so it will look as though it has broken open. Do the same for the other end.
How's it looking? Mine looked like this.

Copy, Paste as a new image, Save as..... Image 2.

Go back to your Tubes,
picking out confetti and fireworks and streamers,
make it look as though they just popped out

Add a special wee treat, the car is one of Jasc tubes,
Go to the Text Tool - add Happy New Year,
I used Innkeeper Font, size 16.
Using the deformation tool and shift, move around lettering to look like it exploded from within the Cracker.
Copy, Paste as a new image, Save as..... Image 3.

OPEN up Animation.
With your Cracker lined up,
go up to Animation,
Frame Properties for each frame to the following settings.

File, Optimiazation Wizard, following the screens, continue, File Save as.......
There you go, a finished Cracker to
Celebrate the New Year.
